Statistics compiled from manpower survey have
played a very essential role in a modern nation
in its pursuing socioeconomic development. To
this end, countries all over the world spare
no efforts to conduct this type of surveys carefully
and seriously to regularly obtain reliable manpower
statistics in order to meet requirements in
their planning manpower allocation and in their
implementing national construction programs.
National natural resources in this country are
limited. It is especially important to deal
with such issues as how to effectively use manpower
and how to balance man-power demand and supply.
Supply of manpower-civilian population of ages
18 and above having capability and willingness
to work-is regularly surveyed and analyzed for

concerning civilian population of ages 18 and
above are collected to meet the needs in pursuing
socioeconomic development.
2. To understand the status of labor force
and employment:
Employment and unemployment in number of persons
by industry, occupation, class of workers, education,
work experience, capability, and interests are
collected for policy-making authorities as a
reference in their planning manpower, organizing
vocational training programs, and preparing
employment assistance.
3. To understand the development trend of manpower:
Based on theories, experiences and related
data at home and overseas, manpower development
trends in Nepal are analyzed and predicted,
with results provided for reference by public
and private users at home and for comparisons
with international manpower data.
